my job in the army is high voltage power generation. our main mission is to provide power for the warfighter in basecamps and such . but we also do disaster relief mission for hurricanes and other natural disasters. i will be helping get the power back up in my home town. it is probably going to break my heart when i see all the damage.

my friend katie and i are seriously considering taking the next month off and contacting the red cross to help out with relief efforts.

i can't even beging to describe how much this just sucks.

i don't want my next visit in the quarter to be a scuba vacation.

after I assess my personal situations, (which may include cleanup at my work) I plan on helping wherever I can. There will be destitute people who need every helping hand.

this is surreal and depressing and I hope we all make it through.

I never thought I would live through something like this.

I am VERY worried about what I'm going home to. but in regards to the "relocation" thread I will NOT leave my city. I plan on helping as much as possible.

No one can know what they face until tomorrow night.

I won't abandon my city. Relocation has always been in my plans, but I won't leave without knowing I did SOMETHING to help others.

My Guard Unit activated us late last night. They're planning on mobilizing us to any part of Southeast Louisiana that we can get to after the hurricane hits. They're is talk that we may be activated for as long as two weeks if it actually hits land fall as a catagory 5. I have a feeling it is going to break my heart as well to see the damage this storm is going to bring.
